Taking into account a professional administration, all required equipment, a premium DJ along with transport, setup and breakdown times, then as a rough estimate for a respectable DJ service during 2024 you should budget no less than R1200-00 to R1500-00 per hour of service delivery.

Why is choosing the DJ such an important element?
The impact that a DJ has on an event is often underestimated. It is only once you have experienced the difference that a professional DJ makes to an event, that you realise the importance of this, and this is generally too late. A professional DJ does not randomly play songs that the audience may like, the DJ reads the crowd and makes educated decisions on what music will work right now, whilst already planning. What should I budget for a DJ?
For starters the saying “pay peanuts and get monkeys:” would be quite accurate. Unlike a physical product, it is very difficult to compare a service delivery between two suppliers; the level of expertise of the DJ combined with the calibre of equipment used, will lead to significant price differences and should be kept in mind at all times.
The number of guests, venue size and venue acoustics will also impact what equipment needs to be provided and in turn will influence the cost. As a rule of thumb, the cost of a respectable DJ should be around 8%-15% of your wedding budget and as an example, not less than R8500-00 for 2024.
How many weddings have you DJ’ed?
On average between 200 and 400 weddings per year since 1971.
Can you play a variety of genres and eras?
Absolutely, unlike in a nightclub setting, we bring the party to you. It's our responsibility as your DJ to read the crowd and adjust the playlist accordingly.
Why is the equipment that the DJ uses important?
This aspect is very seldomly taken into consideration, when in fact it is more important than most people think. The quality and clarity of the sound along with the reliability is very crucial. Poor equipment can have a devastating effect on the success of your event. This also largely contributes to the overall cost of your DJ.

Are you open to receiving song requests from both us and our guests?
Of course, our DJs are professionals who assess the crowd to ensure that requests are suitable for inclusion in their sets or slots.
Are you affiliated with music rights organisations, and do you have liability insurance?
Yes, and Yes.

What is your cancellation policy?
The initial 50% deposit is non-refundable. A credit note can be extended for cancellations or date changes without a problem.
Do you offer overtime on the packages available? (Please advise) Providing the venue allows the DJ to go beyond their stipulated hours, we happily offer an overtime solution to extend your party.
What is included in your package, and are there any additional charges?
Our packages will always include everything you need to create a successful event. We also offer optional extras should you feel you want to enhance the look and feel of your event. The only other charges you may be faced with, will be any overtime charges on the event day.
What are your payment terms?
50% deposit upon booking, and the balance due in the 2 weeks leading up to your event. All amounts must be settled and cleared prior to the event date.
What arrangements do you have in place if you're unable to attend due to illness or in the event of technical issues such as laptop or hard drive failures?
There are always contingencies and backups in place for both personnel and hardware.
When should we book a DJ?
The early bird catches the worm… Arrange your essential service providers ahead of time to ensure thorough research and planning. This includes selecting your venue, catering, photography/videography, and DJ.
